Nonextraction Camouflage Orthodontic Treatment of Skeletal Class III Malocclusion with Severe Crowding Using Microimplant Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion
Park Kyung-Ho

Abstract
In nongrowing patients with mild to moderate Class III skeletal malocclusion, camouflage treatment can be beneficial especially when the patient refuses surgical procedures. A 27-year-old woman with a skeletal Class III pattern, anterior and posterior crossbite was treated with nonextraction camouflage treatment. Transverse discrepancy was solved by maxillary expansion with MARPE (microimplant assisted rapid palatal expansion) and sagittal discrepancy was improved by distalization of the whole mandibular dentition. Additionally, increase of vertical dimension and clockwise rotation of the occlusal plane were achieved by class II intermaxillary elastics. After treatment, her occlusion, smile esthetics, and soft tissue profile were significantly improved.
